I grew up on a dairy farm in Byford, Western Australia, which horses were always a part of, all stock work was done on horse back, twice a daily we would bare back ride out on the ponies to bring the milking herd in.
I was in my early teens when after nagging my parents finally got to ride at the local Pony Club, it was a case of stock rider meets English riding values, and it wasn't to long before the old hay shed gave way to stables and weekends were spent travelling off to shows and One Day Events.
Eventing soon became my passion, especially completing at our only 3.D.E at the time, with all the training of that came with eventing, I had times were it was a struggle to keep horses sound and to rehabilitate if they did go lame, prevention was a big part of my training, and so was the Vet bills, and at that time natural alternative therapy was unheard of, and loading horses with anti-inflam and pain killers didn't pay off come competition time.
Since moving to Sydney were I groomed for Stuart Tinney & Peter Hayes, and gaining a wealth of knowledge from them at the high end of competition, also being able to attend daily stable life at the Sydney Olympics, I took note what alternative therapy's the international riders & trainers were using, which then prompted me to start the study full time the methods that I saw.
